Manage frequencies with SD-Link Bluetooth adapters
SD-Link Bluetooth adapters connect your aircraft radio to compatible navigation apps, so you can send frequencies straight from the app to the radio. The result is fewer manual entries, fewer input errors and shorter head down time in the cockpit – for both active and standby frequencies.
Why SD-Link
Built for frequency management in general aviation
Frequency transfer in one tap
Send the active or standby frequency from the navigation app straight to the radio, instead of dialling it in by hand.
Compact design
Small enough to sit between the radio and its connector or behind the panel, without changing the installation footprint.
Plug-and-play models
Device-specific adapters install between the radio and its existing connector, with no extra wiring or soldering.
Broad compatibility
A Universal model connects further radios over RS-232, including devices that use the GARMIN GTR225 protocol.
Tested before shipping
Each unit goes through a 24-hour burn-in test before it leaves us, to keep the connection stable in the air.
Multi-source ready
Electrical and time decoupling lets several sources – for example a Garmin G3X and an SD-Link adapter – share one radio or autopilot without data conflicts.
How it works
From the app to the radio in three steps
- Connect the adapter Attach the SD-Link adapter to the serial (RS-232) interface of your radio – plug-and-play or wired, depending on the model.
- Pair inside the app Turn on Bluetooth on your tablet or phone and add the adapter inside the navigation app – not in the operating system Bluetooth settings.
- Select and send Choose a frequency in the app and it is transmitted to the radio over Bluetooth Low Energy.
In the app
Selecting and sending frequencies
In SkyDemon, for example, you can pick frequencies from the Radio tab, the pilot log, the moving map or by altitude, then send the selected frequency to the radio over Bluetooth. The adapter bridges modern navigation apps and traditional avionics over a serial (RS-232) interface.
SD-Link works with several navigation apps, including SkyDemon, Sky-Map, VFRnav, EasyVFR and XCSoar. Support for Air Navigation Pro is in development; ForeFlight is not supported. Whether frequency transmission is available depends on the app, the operating system and the radio protocol.
